In Palo Alto, California, the local high school purchased a Alcohol tester to use on the student body when they participate in school events , including the student dances. According to the principal, he insists that it is not to test the entire student body , but the ones who appear as though they have a substance abuse issue.
The belief about this situation is that it will impede the teens from variable instruments in regards to the settings. One setting would be indicated to use on a particular adolescent when they were believed to be drunk and they would have to breathe in it. The second setting actually draws alcohol out of the air and stop the teens who just want to party and get into trouble from coming to the dance and bring back the students who declined to come to school functions due to kids coming into the dances in a drunken state and was approved per the school board to acquire the device . Previously, they had used an Alcohawk breathalyzer from the local police force. The unit actually was obtained so that they had the ease of being able to have one close by . They initially had to call the police when they had an idea that one of the pupils was intoxicated and then their Alcohawk breathalyzer was used. In the student newspaper, students were questioned about what they thought about the purchasing of a Alcohawk breathalyzer. Many students were annoyed about the use of money to purchase such an item though they did remark that they thought it might help keep the kids from drinking and coming into the dances drunk .
Teens are rather frustrated that there is a lack of trust, but they do totally understand the need for Breathalyzers and the risk factors of driving while intoxicated .

Schools all over the United States are using Alcohol Testers. They are actually selling like “hot cakes” as many learning institutions are going hard on underage drinking.
