Oh those ugly love handles. Or little rolls of fat that spill out over the top of your jeans. Some find them cute but you’re not one of them. Having resisted your efforts to get rid for them they bulge out through form fitting sweaters and tops daring you to do something.

What you’ve got is a bit of a Catch 22 here. Because it’s not easy to spot reduce the fat away from a specific part of your body. Yet let’s see if we can’t suggest an approach that might help change your life for the better as you lose those pesky love handles.

You are you game and up for anything, right?

Part of the problem is that for some anyway the love handles are one of the last fat reserves to go. Not what you wanted to hear I know. But not only is it not possible to spot reduce the fat you’re trying to get rid of has a tendency to resist all reduction efforts to begin with.

With this in mind you will be better off if you target your overall body fat percentage.

At this point you should be asking how to reduce your body fat percent. Here’s some ideas to help with that.

First you want to come up with a nutritious diet plan to follow. Because the big idea here, one that’s easy to understand, is you want to eliminate 500 calories a day from your diet. Given how many eat way too much this shouldn’t be that tough. Not when a medium fast food French fries alone packs over 375 calories.

Despite that observation what you if you feel 500 calories a day is too much to ask? Well if you want to realize your dream of a slim waist then you’ll want to add some serious aerobics. Doing cardio to increase the number of calories you’re burning off for say a half an hour four times a week would be good. Five times would be even better. And these don’t have to be boring. Dancing, swimming and biking count at aerobic exercises that can be fun too you know.

What you want to do is build your aerobics routines around things you enjoy. Sustained cardio workouts combined with a modest calorie cutback is just what you need to get rid of those love handles.

Admittedly this third step may not have a major impact but it can help to tone the muscle tissue buried under that layer of fat. So you also want to include exercises that are known to tone the obliques even if you can’t see the results.

The list of such appropriate ab exercises would include leg raises, crunches, the bicycle and side bends. The idea is to use a twisting motion that brings all your core muscles into play. Including the obliques. You can also speed things up by doing weight training focusing on your abs.

There not that tough really. What you’ve got is a three pronged program that can’t help but make love handles disappear. Provided you religiously follow the program of aerobic exercise, a sensible diet and toning exercises for your obliques.
