Sleep Better At Night With Effective Snoring Cures
Snoring is a problem that has plagued many people, so in response to this, a lot of snoring cures have been developed over the decades. Some cures involve medical intervention, some are just homemade remedies, while others simply require a change in lifestyle and habits.
One of the most well known snoring cures is the ever-popular tennis ball solution, which involves putting a tennis ball inside a sock then sewing it to the back of your pajamas. This snoring cure supposedly prevents you from sleeping on your back, a position which tends to induce more snoring. A ball lodged in your back may keep you from lying down properly, yes, but it’s an extremely uncomfortable cure that can even cause you pain–and who wants to be in pain while sleeping? Definitely not a helpful cure. An alternative to this is to simply raise your head using pillows if you tend to lie on your back. This will keep your mouth and throat muscles from going slack and constricting your throat’s airway.
Remember to avoid drinking milk or eating dairy products before going to bed. These can increase the build-up of mucus in your throat, making it more constricted and aggravating your snoring. Instead, you can have a spoonful of honey; honey is said to help clear the throat’s air passage. You can mix it in warm water for a soothing drink before bed or eat some fruit dipped in honey.
Another solution is to use throat sprays. These are generally available over the counter. Using them will lubricate your throat tissues, which helps make them less prone to strong vibrations when air passes through your throat as you sleep. To use throat sprays, three spritzes into the back of your mouth will usually suffice, and remember to do this 30 minutes before you go to bed. You can also use nasal strips, which work by clearing your nasal passages. These strips are particularly helpful to people whose noses become congested at night and have difficulty breathing while they sleep.
There are plenty of snoring cures available to you, so you definitely shouldn’t lose hope if you’ve been a long-time snorer. Give any of these remedies a try and see what will work best for you. Don’t forget to exercise and eat well, because excessive weight also contributes to your snoring problem. If none of these solutions work, you might have a more serious breathing problem, in which case you will need to ask your doctor for a solution.
